Nita Ambani Introduces Open Office Culture at Reliance Headquarters

A few weeks ago, Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani transformed his office culture by embracing the open office plan at Reliance Corporate Park (RCP), in Navi Mumbai. Now, Nita Ambani, his wife and Director on the company’s board, has followed in his footsteps. She introduced the new ‘no walls, no barricades’ culture into the headquarters of Reliance Industries at Maker IV, in Nariman Point.

Open Office Culture

The Maker IV office will be the workplace for the teams behind Indian Super League, Mumbai Indians of Indian Premier League (IPL), and the fashion and entertainment sections. Nita Ambani said that the new concept will create a synergy and help to boost creativity among workers.

According to a report from the Times of India, the top team of Mumbai Indians has shifted into the new office onthe 6thfloor of Maker IV. From this office, a number of ideas of the varied sporting properties of Reliance Industries are being discussed.

The workplace transformation was initiated in November, last year. Being the biggest start-up of the country, Reliance Jiointroduced a revolutionary change on the 7th floor of ‘TC22’ building, at RCP. The open office of Reliance Jio was planned and designed in 6 months. Akash and Isha, scions of the Ambani family and Directors on the board of Reliance Jio, received a lot of appreciation for this.

Prabir Sen, a Vancouver-based data scientist felt that the Ambani’s open office idea is unique and new, even for the west. The trend of entrepreneurs dismantling barriers in the office is certainly new. It promotes a healthier culture, with high-level executives sharing meals with staff in the same cafeteria, he added.

Nita Ambani’s Role

Nita Ambani says that she is on the board of Reliance Industries for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). She holds the second most powerful position in the biggest and most profitable private sector company of the country, Reliance Industries. The company has a value of around INR 3.88 lakh crore.

She is engaged in a number of initiatives. Apart from being the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, she is also the President of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center. Reliance Foundation has touched the lives of 40 lakh individuals in the sectors of health, education, and rural transformation, among others. Nita Ambani is the head of 13 schools that educate over 15,000 students. Under her guidance, the ‘Education for All’ initiative of Mumbai Indians has uplifted the lives of over 27,000 underprivileged children.
